Raising a family in Colorado

Every conversation about Colorado eventually turns into a conversation about cost. It is not wrong, but it is incomplete. Cost is the symptom people can measure.
What I hear more often, from parents in my own town, is a kind of low-grade exclusion. Decisions get made about their kids, and they find out afterwards. Not maliciously — just procedurally. The room fills up before anyone thinks to call them.
Parents are not a special interest. They are the people who carry the outcome of every one of those decisions home with them.
I am not interested in turning schools into a battlefield. I am interested in the much more boring fix: tell parents first, in plain language, and let them answer.
